record release show 1: hamburg!
june 17: the day has arrived… today we set out to play the first release show for our new album. new songs will be played and rehearsals went by so fast… we are curious how everything will be. but before we can pack the first batch of instruments in the tourbus, the computer with the backing stuff is not in the mood to work properly… argh, not today! so we have a little panic attack and think about other ways of getting it all back together… for no reason, suddenly the computer works… and i furiously make a full backup of all the stuff we need for the shows. pheeew. so the bus gets packed with tons of stuff, our friend petula who will be playing with us, and our booking people, too, then we headstart into this little adventure of touring for 4 short days. yet it will be a trip that is far more interesting than your average four days of touring… as we arrive we are greated by our friends tripping the light fantastic who will play with us tonight as well! the stage at the prinzenbar has changed since we last visited the club and in conclusion, everything is so much smaller than planned… so we switch plans and it turns out to be a real miracle that we managed to get everything on stage and working… we borrow the laptop of our photographer philipp in order to be able to do all the programmed stuff, we can safely say now the hours we spent recreating everything in the tourbus on our way to hamburg have payed off. oh yes. as petula and tripping the light fantastic play, we talk to kulturnews in the basement… and almost miss our friends playing. not good! then we play a quite balanced set, though we are a bit hectic and irritated because of the live situation where suddenly 8 new songs are presented… pinch me! the audience is chatting all the way through, though everyone is anticipating new material… everything is in a bit of a rush and the whole evening just passes before our eyes… we greet friends, new and old, get some presents and for the first time, get the finished copies of our album. wow! it all turned out even better than expected. we are pleased. everything is set. we can’t await the other concerts… // andreas.
